About Us
Empowering Young Minds Together: Learning, Growing and Thriving in Community.

About us
Beyond the Books is a high school homeschool co-op designed to support, enrich, and elevate the homeschooling experience—not replace it.
We understand that every homeschooling family is different. That’s why parents remain in control of their student’s core academic curriculum, choosing what best fits their child’s needs, goals, and learning style.
Our role is to come alongside that foundation and provide what’s often hardest to create at home: engaging group learning, real-world experiences, and meaningful peer connection.
Our Approach
At Beyond the Books, learning goes beyond textbooks and independent study.
Our program is built around structured, four-week learning blocks that give students the opportunity to explore topics in a deeper, more interactive way. Through electives, enrichment opportunities, and collaborative projects, students build practical skills while connecting with others in a supportive environment.
Rather than assigning traditional coursework, we focus on:
-
Hands-on learning experiences
-
Group collaboration and discussion
-
Real-world application of skills
-
Confidence-building through presentations and projects
Enrichment That Feels The Gaps
We intentionally offer opportunities that are often difficult to replicate in a home setting.
This may include:
-
Group-based science experiences and experiments
-
Electives focused on life skills, creativity, or career exploration
-
Collaborative projects that encourage teamwork and communication
-
Guest speakers, workshops, and hands-on learning experiences
These experiences are designed to complement—not compete with—your student’s academic studies at home.
A Rhythm That Works
Our unique schedule follows a four-weeks-on, one-week-off cycle, allowing students to stay engaged without burnout.
This built-in rhythm gives families the flexibility to:
-
Stay consistent with their chosen curriculum
-
Use off weeks for catch-up, travel, or rest
-
Maintain a healthy balance between structure and freedom

Leadership You Can Trust
Get to Know Us
My name is Tara Lynch and Beyond the Books was created from both my professional experience and my personal journey as a homeschooling parent.
With over 20 years in childcare and education, I’ve spent my career understanding how children learn best and what truly supports their growth. But as a homeschooling mom who also owns a business and works full-time, I’ve experienced firsthand the challenges that come with balancing it all.
I love the freedom homeschooling gives us—the ability to choose curriculum, tailor learning, and create a path that fits my child. But I also know how difficult it can be to provide consistent accountability, ensure proper supervision during the day, and be available when my child needs help—especially while working.
And then there’s the piece that’s hardest to replicate at home: meaningful social interaction.
Beyond the Books was created to help bridge that gap.
My goal is to support families like mine by providing structure, guidance, and community—while still allowing parents to maintain the flexibility and choice that make homeschooling so valuable.
